Where will our session be located?
We will work together to find the best location for your session. I am always up for suggestions, or if you want I can suggest different locations depending on what you are looking for! Our beautiful province and the lower mainland offers a vast array of locations from mountains, to rivers, to forests or to meadows.
When will our session happeN?
If we are booking an in-home lifestyle session, they will be booked throughout the morning daylight hours as we want as much natural light as possible. If we are booking an outdoors session, the light is generally the best about 1-2 hours before sunset, called Golden Hour. We can work around different schedules if we need to though.
You have booked with me! What happens next?
I will send you an invoice that will require a $50 retainer to secure your date, if you are booking a lifestyle session. After I have received payment for the retainer, I will send you a client questionnaire to fill out as it helps me to get to know you and/or your family a little bit better! The remaining balance is due on the day of the session by cash or e-transfer. You will receive a receipt upon each payment that I receive. For wedding packages, there is a $500 retainer to secure your date. Final payment is due two weeks before the wedding, which will be outlined in the invoice.
What do we wear?
You can coordinate your outfits yourself, or I can help you style your session if you need help! Pinterest is also a great resource for clothing suggestions. I also will be making a blog post about this in the future, but for now here are a few tips that I have about styling your session:
▴ Avoid big logos or any writing on clothing.
▴ For a family session, start with mom’s outfit and then coordinate colours and/or patterns around hers. If you send me a flatlay of everyone’s outfits I can help with suggestions or recommendations!!
▴ Avoid neon colours.
▴ Try to stick with only one bold pattern like stripes etc. As too many different patterns can clash and be too loud.
Weather
If it decides to rain on the day of our session, as we live on the rainy WET coast, we can make the decision together to reschedule the session to another day or to go ahead and shoot regardless of the weather!
When will I receive my photos?
All galleries are delivered by an online gallery where you are able to download both the Hi-Resolution (for print) and the social-media sized images for sharing on Instagram or Facebook! Each gallery includes a personalized online store where you are able to see your photographs in the prints and products! No purchase is necessary, but it is an easy way to order prints, photo albums, calendars or other products! Your images will be delivered within two to three weeks of our session. Wedding galleries will be delivered around eight weeks after the wedding day.
What if my kids won’t cooperate or I feel too awkward?
First of all don't stress! I am the MOST awkward in front of the camera and can totally relate to that feeling. I like to bring music to our sessions which helps both of us get into the zone. Sessions with me are relaxed and we will most definitely have fun together! I give subtle prompts that help you engage with each other to document those authentic moments. What may feel awkward to you, may actually turn into a beautiful genuine interaction caught on camera. I also have two children of my own, so I understand that they won’t always sit still, and that they love to move! I will always get the posed smiling photographs out of the way first, so that we make sure to capture those happy faces! After that, we play around and things are less scripted so the kids can move, play and feel more at ease.
